A seminar 'Health care system is our basic right' was held at Kinnaird College (KC) on Tuesday. Aqeel Malik, father of three-years-old Imanae Malik organized the seminar in collaboration with the students of KC Health Club.

Imanae Malik was killed on November 29, 2009, due to the criminal negligence of the Doctors Hospital and from the day of incident her father Aqeel Malik has been struggling to get justice for Imanae and also for the betterment of health care system in our country.

Principal of Kinnaird College Prof Dr Bernadette L Dean, Mrs. Ammara Farooq Malik a lawyer and president of SEPLAA an Independent NGO, Dr Iftikhar Hussain, former MS of Punjab Social Security Hospital, people from different walks of life and a large number of KC students attended the seminar.

Talking to the seminar participants Aqeel Malik said that only one doctor is not responsible for her daughter's death instead the whole healthcare system is responsible for it. He said there is no check and balance system in our country to monitor the private hospitals besides no laws
and polices are present for the accountability of these so-called hospitals. He said that health is our basic right but unfortunately our government could not provide us proper health facilities even
after the 62 years of independence.

Aqeel Malik said he wants a proper healthcare system for our country's people so that no other Imanae Malik could lose her life. He said he can't do this struggle all alone as he needs people support and that's why he is organizing such seminars to get people's support. He said he has also started a peaceful campaign for this cause, he added; he got a very positive response from the public. He said he would continue this struggle till the government improves health care
system. He appealed to the seminar participants to spread out this message as much as they can and also join him in this noble cause to save our loved one's lives.

Dr Bernadette L Dean, Mrs. Ammara Farooq Malik and Dr Iftikhar Hussain also spoke on the occasion.
